Southern Peaks Mining is committed to innovation and sustainable development

The mining group Southern Peaks Mining (SPM) participated for the first time in the Perumin Mining Convention, where it presented some of its most important innovation projects that have allowed it to optimize processes, increase productivity and develop mining that prioritizes environmental protection.

“Constant innovation and sustainability are two of the central pillars of our company. We are committed to continuous improvement. We want to be a benchmark for the sector” explained Adolfo Vera, CEO of SPM.

As part of its constant search for new technologies, SPM, together with Scania, designed and developed a truck that can transport 80 tons of cargo. This unit was the first prototype to be implemented in the country and is now being replicated by other mining companies.

This important technological advance not only reduces costs and time, but also reduces the emissions generated by ore transportation, leading the way towards a more efficient and responsible mining industry.

In addition, by the end of the year, SPM will implement an electric truck that will enable them to reduce their carbon footprint. An initiative that makes this mining company one of the first to use this type of vehicle in subway mines.
